Engagements
USU’s CGHE provides program management, products, and subject matter expertise to facilitate interactions with allies and PNs. Specifically, CGHE will: Design, plan, and implement DoD GHE activities, including key leader engagements, expert exchanges, meetings, conferences, exercises, and other events. Develop, coordinate, and execute DoD GHE programs.
Conferences
Military Health System Research Symposium (MHSRS)
The Military Health System Research Symposium (MHSRS) provides a collaborative setting for the exchange of information between military providers with deployment experience, research and academic scientists, international partners, and industry on research and related health care initiatives. CGHE hosted the fourth annual GHE research track at the 2023 MHSRS, featuring presentations from eight GHE Research Initiative (GHERI) recipient panelists.
Indo-Pacific Military Health Exchange (IPMHE)
In support of the USINDOPACOM Surgeon’s Office, CGHE supported execution of the 2023 Indo-Pacific Military Health Exchange (IPMHE), co-hosted with the Malaysia Armed Forces Health Services (MAFHS), bolstering Malaysia-U.S. relations. The event provided a platform for military healthcare professionals to collaborate on key health topics affecting the region, including disaster response, medical readiness, public health, and healthcare delivery improvements. CGHE assisted the USINDOPACOM Surgeon’s Office in managing the conference, shaping the agenda, and providing logistical support.
Military-Civilian Health Security Summit (MCHSS)
The Military-Civilian Health Security Summit (MCHSS) is a collaborative initiative between USINDOPACOM and the Australian Defence Force (ADF). The partnership was established in 2018, reflecting a shared commitment to addressing global health security challenges through a military-civilian collaboration. USU’s CGHE provided subject matter expertise in the “Countering Misinformation/Disinformation in the Global Health Security Space” session.
International Conference of Military Medical Schools (ICMMS)
In 2015, the International Conference of Military Medical Schools (ICMMS) was inaugurated, bringing together faculty and students from military medical schools in the Indo-Pacific region. The conference, held biennially, featured a comprehensive three-day program encompassing lectures, symposia, scientific exhibitions, and site visits or field exercises. USU’s CGHE will host the upcoming conference, and broaden its reach to a global audience.

American Evaluation Association Conference (AEA)
The annual American Evaluation Association (AEA) conference provides a unique opportunity for participants to hone their technical monitoring and evaluation (M&E) skills through a series of workshops and sessions that delve into the latest trends in evaluation. In 2023, USU’s CGHE presented a panel presentation on the process for building evaluations for the African Pandemic Outbreak Response Alliance, the African Peacekeeping Rapid Response Partnership, and MEDICAL OPTIONS. The panel emphasized the importance of using rigorous evaluation methods to tell the story of GHE as well as the importance of including stakeholders voices in order to ensure meaningful findings.

The American Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene (ASTMH) Annual Meeting is the premier international forum for the exchange of scientific and clinical advances in tropical medicine, hygiene and global health. World-class research findings, clinical updates and topical discussions about the hot-button global issues from the world’s brightest scientific experts and thought leaders are presented over five days.
